100 Pin VHDCI to HPDB 100 pin Cable Assembly SCSI-5
This VHDCI (Very High-Density Cable Interconnect) cable features a 100-pin 0.8mm male to HPDB 100-pin male connector for connecting SCSI storage devices and other compatible peripherals.
SCSI-5 to SCSI-3 converter cables are ideal for connecting a VHDCI (SCSI-5) controller to any SCSI-3 peripheral with HD100 100-pin Micro-D SCSI connectors. STC VHDCI SCSI cable products are fully stackable, allowing 4 plug connectors to fit into a single host bus adapter slot. Each SCSI-5 to SCSI-3 converter cable is built and tested to the latest specifications and features STC-designed EMI-shielded nickel-plated zinc diecast back-shells for added durability.

General Description
Use these cables to interconnect equipment that utilizes 100-pin VHDCI (Very High-Density Cable Interconnect) connectors. These attractive cables feature 100-pin VHDCI male connectors on each end, metal connector hoods, twisted pair wiring, and a shielded cable jacket. Several cable lengths are offered.
VHDCI connectors utilize sliding ribbon contacts instead of standard pins. This connector provides a highly compact arrangement of contacts which is particularly useful in arrangements where space is limited. VHDCI connectors are also sometimes called Very High-Density Connector Interfaces and are used on SCSI-5 connections, though these cables have not been tested for suitability with SCSI-5.
General Description
Use these cables to interconnect equipment that utilizes 100-pin HP DSUB (Half-Pitch DSUB) connectors. These attractive cables feature 100-pin Male connectors on each end, metal shell ends with strain reliefs, twisted pair wiring, and a shielded cable jacket. Thumbscrews secure the cable to the mating connector. We stock several cable lengths.
The Half-Pitch DSUB (HPDSUB) series of connectors provides a compact arrangement of pin contacts on 0.05" centers, which is tighter than full-size DSUB connectors.
SCSI-5 is a new type of SCSI that is also called the Ultra SCSI thanks to the high speeds of the connector and cable. It’s quite similar to the SCSI-3 connector in that it has 100 pins. However, the pins in the SCSI-5 are smaller in size - only 0.8 mm wide. The small size allows the pins in the SCSI-5 to be more closely packed together around a hard plastic core, as compared to the SCSI-3. It’s also why it’s referred to as the Very High Density Cable Interconnect (VHDCI).
The densely packed pins lower the probability of the pins bending, unlike the other types of connectors. One of the crucial merits of the SCSI-5 is that it is a high-performing connector with a minimized impedance and resistance. As a result, it permits extremely fast data transfers.
The SCSI-5 connectors can be built thinner and narrower to suit those applications that have very little space. Plus with its high data transfer speed, it’s used in advanced multi-port applications that require a high performance and speed but have space limitations. Some of these include RAID cards, Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) technology, and Ultra SCSI Fast-20.
The VHDCI connector is an advanced type of SCSI hardware that is used as an external connector for the Ultra SCSI and other SCSI peripheral devices. It’s an extremely miniaturized 68-contact multipurpose connector.
