Question: Does this adapter use 2 USB C ports on your Mac like in the pictures? I’m confused based on the pictures in the comments.

Answer: Plugs right into the side of my MacBook, and works great. Yes, uses both USB-C ports on one side. Can't upload a picture to this answer.

Question: how well does this type C hub adapter work if I have a case on my MacBook?

"I purchased his USB C hub for the Macbook Pro 2018. The price range of this port is very wide (3 USB ports, 1 SD card slot, 1 TF or MicroSD card slot). The device is compact, has a space gray look that matches the color of the Apple space gray, and its outer casing is made of aluminum, so you can feel the heavy body. I found the card in the MicroSD slot to be inserted upside down, which was initially weird until I noticed that in this way, you can easily pull it out using the tabs that are nailed to the card. "This product is well built, lightweight, and portable. The adapter fits very snugly and sturdily on my MacBook. The Space gray color matches the color of my MacBook Pro. There are ample 2 USB-C ports for high-speed devices, 2 USB 3.0 ports, and an SD and Micro card reader. All the ports work and the transfer speeds are fast. I love the fact that it has an HDMI port which allows me to project my laptop on a TV screen and allows me to use a bigger screen when I need it. My only gripe would be the missing firewire port but it's not a deal breaker."
