Customer Questions & Answers Question: Trying to understand if can I extend the Mac desktop to two external HD (or 4k ?) displays and still use my Mac laptop's built-in display. Answer: I have 2 external 24-inch displays running but you have to use separate ports of the MacBook to extend two separate screens. Even with that, the MacBook screen will show 1 set of content, which will be mirrored onto 1 External screen, while the third screen can be extended with different content. Question: I only have a USB 3.1 Gen 1. Will this still work? Answer: You will need a C to USB connector. Like this https://www.stc-cable.com/aluminum-casing-usb-3-1-type-c-female-to-usb-3-0-a-male-adapter.html Question: Is the USB-C port power out only or is it in/out? Answer: Out only, used to power your laptop, while your normal laptop charger plugs into the back in the PD port it will deliver that same power to the pig tail to power and send data to and from the laptop. Question: Will the USB C hub work with a USB-powered HDD? Answer: No the USB C port will not allow for data transfer. I asked the same question about the USB C female port and finally received the answer that it is power only.
Customer Feedback "My experience was great.
"As a lifelong Mac user (since 1986) you can imagine how many different things I have accumulated over the years that need to be plugged into my MacBook Pro. You can also imagine how “happy” I was to learn that my brand new 16” MacBook Pro ONLY has USB-C ports. So that means that none of my USB, Thunderbolt, HDMI, External DVD Burner, Printer, scanner, camcorders, SD cards, etc… would be able to connect. So I decided to get this adapter, because it seemed to have all the connections I needed, plus it sets on the underside of the back end of the laptop. Nothing sticking way out the side and it also lifts the keyboard a bit making it easier to type on a fast surface and also providing a little more air around the fans and vents. I was worried that since my Laptop is 16” and this says for 13-15 inches it wouldn’t get nice but it did! As for the connections. First I plugged in my 96W charging cable. It worked! Then I tried an SD card in the slot because I take a lot of pictures that need to be transferred. 2 for 2! I wanted to see if the ethernet port worked. We have multiple people using the wifi in the house so this hard line makes it go faster… and sure enough… it worked like lightning! I plugged in my 3TB USB 3.0 external hard drive next. Worked like a charm. 3-3 with all 3 plugged in at the same time. Next up was my iPhone 11 using a USB to lightening cable. It charged and I checked to see if I could sync with iTunes/Music. Yep. I tried a USB flash drive next. Worked as well. I was impressed that with all that pugged in everything was still connected. I also liked the fact that all those wires etc were now hidden behind my MacBook screen. So I had all these things plugged into my kitchen where I have been working from home since COVID-19 started. I unplugged it all to go check on the HDMI cable to see if it worked with our LG TV. I never actually use this function but wanted to see if it worked, in case I ever did. Yep instead of a 16” MacBook Pro screen I had a 70” LG Jumbo Iron for the monitor. Wow. The final test was hooking up the Printer/Scanner. I have a Samsung Laser Printer/Scanner and an HP inject printer/scanner. Both worked perfectly. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have a Thunderbolt port. But that is only because I have some old adapters for that. Never was a fan of Thunderbolt, but Mac used them briefly. All in all, it is a solid product. Sturdy, with all the bells and whistles I need. It came in a nice high-quality box with foam cutout. I would recommend this for anyone who has a MacBook Pro or any MacBook for that matter who needs a simple way to get access to all the devices you need to put in it."
"This USB hub is super convenient. It works with my Mac Book Pro /w Touch Bar flawlessly. It even has a matching color! I leave my desk for meetings many times throughout the day and it was a real pain to reconnect all the cables every time. Now, it's just one USB-C cable and I'm all set.
"The ethernet port, along with the other myriad ports, is really helpful. I was surprised that I didn't have to install a driver or anything. The HDMI port, USB 3 port, and SD card reader worked as expected."
