Customer Questions & Answers Question: Is it compatible with Mac or Catalina? Answer: Yes. Question: My laptop doesn’t have an ethernet port, will this adapter function as an external ethernet port? Answer: Yes plus it adds 3 USB ports Question: Does this work with the fire TV (cube)? Answer: This particular device only has a USB connection to your device. If your Cube doesn't have an available USB port but it does have a USB C port you will need to order the device that Amazon has that looks like this but has included the USB C connector.
Customer Feedback "Love the convenience of having this dual Ethernet adapter and USB 3 hub. Though I already had separate versions of these devices, I was hoping to lessen the amount of equipment I needed to travel with on various occasions, and the price was ideal for a combo device. I chose this specifically as I also own an EDUP USB WiFi adapter and have had great experiences with using it daily. Build quality appears good. The speed on this device is great, which was nice to see when testing the Ethernet adapter portion with my 1GB fiber service at home. I didn't get a full 1GB link, but 978MB, but it's more likely my computer than the product itself. Still pretty darn close to the specification. As for USB transfers, while I didn't gauge the transfer speeds specifically, they were comparable to another USB 3 hub that I own..very fast and flawless in the reads and writes to my thumb drives and my 3TB powered WD drive. For the sake of testing, I also used the hub on my desktop, which doesn't have USB 3 ports, and had no issues with installation or use of the hub. The product uses a Realtek driver, which I prefer when it comes to any USB device, as the drivers can always easily be found and updated automatically from Windows 10. The only thing I would prefer to have on this device is a bit longer connection cable, being that it's integrated, and perhaps an option to make it a powered hub on a future version. For the price, performance, and convenience, I think it's a great find."
"I purchased the small and have been amazingly impressed with its performance. First of all, it is about the size of a pack of gum, metal on the outside, and feels solidly built. Things plug into it securely and it plug securely into my laptop. I had not used an ethernet over a USB device before and I was curious as to how that was going to work. It worked completely seamlessly. I plugged in the hub, plugged in my ethernet cable to it, and instantly had an internet connection. There wasn't even installing a driver lag or any process for my Windows 10 x64 computer. I then jumped on two-speed testing websites and ran several tests to see if there was any loss of speed between plugging directly into my laptop and plugging into the hub. There was practically zero difference in speed between the two with the test running through the hub having a slightly LOWER ping rate (which doesn't make any sense, but it's not a negative). I then tested the transfer speed of a 1.38 GB folder with 104 items in it from a portable, unpowered drive plugged directly into the computer and then through the hub. First off, I was pleased to see the hub pass-through power from my laptop to run the portable drive which is a necessity for me. Transferring from the drive to the computer and then back directly plugged in and through the hub showed no reduction in speed. It was slightly faster transferring through the hub (though once again, this doesn't make a lot of sense so I'm assuming it was an anomaly). My final verdict on this product as it is incredibly good at what it does, is small and compact, and is very easy to use. If you need something like this, get it!"
"Nowadays most laptops lack Ethernet ports. Also to keep the sleek design and the weight as controlled as possible, they don't come with a lot of USB 3.0 ports. This well-built and fairly inexpensive device solves those two things if you find yourself in that situation (I recently purchased a Dell XPS 15 7590 here at Amazon, and found myself in that exact spot). Now I have two extra USB ports (one is the trade-off to connect the device to) and I also have a very fast Ethernet port in case I need to hardwire my Internet connection to get a faster speed. Overall satisfied with this device, which you can also reuse in any other laptop if needed"
"I teach online and my laptop doesn’t have an Ethernet plug. I’ve been relying on WiFi, but it was too often not good enough. I was super skeptical Of these adapters because it just boggles my mind how it works. After another online teacher reassured me that she uses an adapter and it works perfectly, I decided to give it a try. I also needed more USB outlets, and this little thing has been amazing! My internet connection is top-notch. Recommend."
"Just got a Macbook 2015 and there are only two USB ports with two useless Thunderbold and not even an ethernet port.
"The network adapter/USB hub works well. Plug and play in my Macbook Pro (Late 2013) Model. The wireless didn't seem to get anywhere near my internet speeds which are 600mbps. I would get 150mbps at best probably due to older hardware. With this adapter, I am 715 Mbps constantly, and webpages are populated much faster. I also like the year warranty from the seller that is a much-appreciated perk. The adapter does get up to a temp of 101.6 degrees per a regular thermometer, but still functions fine."
