Bus-Powered Signal Booster and High-Speed Data TransferThe STC-G040 features a bus-powered signal booster (no external power source required) in the middle of the cable that extends the range of the USB signal, allowing you to overcome the typical 16-foot limitation. This allows USB peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, and card readers, to be located up to 65 feet from the host computer with no loss in signal quality. The STC-G040 also provides 250mA of power to a connected device. If a device requires more than 250mA of power, it will either need to have its power supply or be plugged into a powered USB 3.0 hub.
