"I bought this for travel, thinking I'd be able to connect my Mac laptop to hotel TVs, conference projectors, etc. I didn't choose a regular cable because I wanted to avoid the inevitable tangles with other cables and gear. The housing on this unit is a bit larger than I imagined from the photo (about 2 1/2" in diameter and 3/4" thick), but is quite solid and operates smoothly. I've tested it at home and it works fine for a Mac to big-screen TV connection. I'm sure this wasn't the ultimate test of HDMI performance, but my uses aren't too demanding."

The reel portion of this item has a diameter of about 2.5", and the 3.5-foot cord length seems accurate, though the cable does want to maintain its coiled shape so you have to sorta stretch it to get the full length - it's more comfortable at about 2.5-3 feet.
Great item to have in your bag with a laptop.
