USB 3.1 Type E Extension Adapter
USB 3.1 Front Panel Socket to USB 3.0 20Pin Header Male Extension Adapter for Motherboard ,This compact adapter adds one USB 3.1 Type-C internal 20-pin connector to your PC's existing motherboard by converting an unused 19-pin Type-A motherboard header to the newer standard. This allows PC owners to take advantage of new high-end PC cases that feature an external USB 3.1/3.2 Type-C port. Here are some of the CP14's key features:
Easy to Install
Customer Feedback1.This is the adapter you need for new cases and older motherboards. The description's not very clear here. This adapter accepts the new "USB-C 3.2 front panel" connector, and converts it to the old USB 3.0 header style. This is useful for using an older motherboard (or one without a USB 3.2 header) in a newer case, such as a Fractal Define R6. It appears to be a similar design to the Lian-Li PW-INC1TR, with the distinct advantage that you can actually buy it. 2.Brilliant Design & Function I NEED this for motherboards that don't have the new USB 3.2 (Gen 2) 20-pin, A-Key connector - which is the female end pictured in the description. *Matched with front panel Type-C connector on 5.25 slot panel* 3.Get That extra USB Type C 10 Mbps Port On Your Maximus IX Hero moboThis is the perfect cable to add an additional USB Type C 3.1 Gen2 port to my ASUS Maximus IX Hero motherboard. The cable plugs in perfectly with the USB3.1_E1 connector on the motherboard. I tested it with my USB-C 3.1 gen2/SATA dock and a SATA drive and it delivered the maximum transfer rate. 4.Essential for adding front-panel USB-C support when your motherboard lacks the connector!I recently built two new Windows 10 systems with MSI MPG Gaming Edge motherboards. While the motherboards do offer front-panel support for USB 3.2, the connectors on the board are only USB Type-A. This poses a problem if you buy a case with USB Type-C front-panel support, like our Phanteks P600S cases. To connect the USB-C front panel connector cable to the motherboard in this scenario, you need to use a motherboard adapter, like this one from Silverstone. It plugs into the USB 3.1 or 3.2 Type-A connector on the motherboard, so that you can then connect the USB Type-C cable coming front the front of the case to the motherboard. This gives you working front-panel USB-C on the case, even though the motherboard doesn't offer direct support. I found installing this adapter to be a bit of a chore. The adapter changes the angle at which the front-panel cable connects to the motherboard, which may create some cabling challenges, depending on your case, front panel cables and whether the length of your graphics card requires that the cable run behind it. The adapter also fits very snugly into the USB Type-A connector on the motherboard, so it must be installed onto the motherboard first. You can't just install the cable into the adapter and then pop into place on the board. At least, it didn't work for me with my setup.
