Type-C, the king of the future data cable market!
In the early years, when Android smartphones first became popular, almost all Android phone charging ports used Micro USB ports.
However, in recent years, new mobile phones have begun to abandon the Micro USB interface and choose to use the Type-C interface. So, why are mobile phones now suddenly replaced with Type-C interfaces?
What is the reason for this? What is the difference between Micro USB and Type-C?
Micro USB charging port
Micro USB is an upgrade of the previous Mini USB. The early electronic products basically adopted this interface. The interface is a wide and narrow trapezoidal interface. Because the upper and lower widths of the interface are different, it is more prone to the problem of incorrect insertion.
Type-C charging port
Type-C can be said to be an upgraded replacement for Micro USB. It can be inserted on both sides of the interface. Its appearance officially solves the worldwide problem of "USB can never be inserted correctly". In addition, Type-C also has the characteristics of positive and negative insertion, fast transmission speed, etc.
The difference between Micro USB and Type-C port
1. Development history
In terms of development history, the C interface standard began to be recognized in 2015. In 2015, Apple applied the Type-C interface to the MacBook. In 2016, the Type-C interface became popular, and major flagship mobile phones began to use the Type-C interface instead of the commonly used Micro USB interface.
2. Shape design
In terms of appearance, the Micro USB is narrower than the Type-C interface, but it has a strong sense of heaviness. Although Type-C is wider, it looks thinner and lighter.
3. Orientation design
In terms of direction design, there is no positive or negative direction for the Type-C interface, and both positive and negative directions can be inserted. There are positive and negative directions for micro USB. The wrong insertion will not only affect the cable plug itself, but also easily damage the mobile phone interface.
4. Transmission speed
In terms of transmission speed, the specifications of micro USB limit the output of the highest voltage, and there are limitations in charging technology. The Type-C interface solves the problem of limiting the voltage of the port, and the maximum output power is greatly increased. Faster charging, max speed up to 10Gbps!
