The advantage is that the cable from the connector protrudes from the connector at a right angle to the drive and not straight out from the drive. I had very little room in my case between the drive and the case door where a straight connector would not work. This connector worked like a charm with absolutely no problems. The SATA power cable in the EVGA was not angled like this one, and that prevented me from closing the Alienware computer case.
