Customer questions & answersQUESTION: I have an EVGA supernova, which unfortunately all my spare cables have gone missing. this should work as sata power to the open 6pin on the supply. ANSWER: I used it for a 1050 FTW Ti and it works perfectly.
QUESTION: How many watts and amperes can these cables carry? if sata power cables are meant for disk drives, how come they can provide enough power to a GPU? ANSWER: It will handle a graphics card with no problem, I used one for a 1050ti and it gave me no issues, this is a very good quality adaptor that does its job.
QUESTION: What external power sata power supplies work with this? The ones have have are missing a Molex pin. ANSWER: I purchased this cable because my power supply did not have a six-pin power for my GPU. Some higher-end video cards need an external power source and do not draw all the power they need from the PCI slot on the motherboard
Feedback"So after a few weeks of using this, I have a few things I'd like to share. It works as expected, it provides ample power for most GPUs, but it is a black and yellow cord so if you have a custom build that might be an issue. After using it for a few weeks with a GTX 1060, I think I may have worn it out. It was working fine for about 2-3 weeks but lately, it's randomly dropping power to the GPU which is causing my computer to shut down. I can't use my computer at the moment because I'm worried that a sudden loss of power may kill my GPU or motherboard. My old PSU died on me and when it died it took my old motherboard with it. When I bought my new PSU I didn't realize it only had one 8-pin and one 6-pin. The 6 pin had to be used to power the motherboard so that made the other 6+2 pin out of reach for my GPU so I needed an adapter. Bought this, plugged it in, worked fine for a while but then it started randomly dropping power. Not sure if it was just the cord or if it may be a problem somewhere else but I've recently purchased a new PSU, just waiting for it to come in. It's cheap, it works, I have nothing bad to say about it because I don't know if my issue is related to this adapter or not but for a quick temporary fix, it will work."
"I had an old i5 PC which I wanted to bring back into use. Unfortunately, the PCIE graphics card I had spare needed a 6-pin power input but my PSU only had one which connected to the motherboard. This little adapter plugs into a SATA power plug and then into the GPU, bingo, the old PC is back up and running. I've never had any issues with their quality. I believe they also make a Molex version if that's all you have. Either way, it's a great little cable."
"The item worked perfectly and was purchased for an Nvidia GeForce graphics card. The computer it is being used in didn't have the right power supply for the graphics card, but this cable plugged into a spare sata power supply cable and connected to the graphics card and worked straight away without any issues at all, highly recommend if you want to add a new graphics card but don't want to upgrade the power supply.
"Ace. Super little connection for powering an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060. I purchased the new graphics card without realizing it needed additional power. This was shipped quickly and does the job brilliantly."
