Customer questions & answersQUESTION: I want this cable for a thermal take riing trio controller that can connect up to 5 fans. To much power? ANSWER: yes,it should work.
QUESTION: Can these cable be used with any power supply? ANSWER: Yes, any power supply that you need to convert 15-pin SATA connectors to the old Molex connector.
QUESTION: i want to use an adapter that is molex from the led light on my hard drive case, and power it via a sata plug in from my power supply ? ANSWER: I bought these kinds of adapters to be able to hook up the old style hard disk drive ATA to the newer SATA connections. I also bought the converter that connects into the ATA fitting, which needed one of these adapters to power it also. If that is your need also, you might look further to buy an adapter that has two of the white power supply ends with one black SATA connecter.
QUESTION: i want to use an adapter that is molex from the led light on my hard drive case, and power it via a sata plug in from my power supply ? ANSWER: Not sure, I used this cable to power SATA drives on an old computer that only had Molex plugs. The cable was quality but not sure about your specific use for it. Based on your use description, there are likely better options out there.
FeedBack"If all of your computer's SATA power cables are already in use, and you need to add another SATA device (Hard Drive or CD / CDR) use this adapter to convert an available IDE power cable to be able to connect to your SATA device. I got a new Hybrid Hard Drive, and wanted to keep my existing Hard Drive. All my SATA power cables (only 2 with my power supply) are already in use, so I got this adapter to connect the new Hard Drive to the power supply using one of the several IDE power cables that are not in use (I have no IDE devices on this computer). I also got a SATA data cable (there are only 2 with this computer as well) to connect the new Hard Drive to the SATA data port (there are four on this computer - so why only 2 cables ??). Everything is working perfectly, and I am completely happy with the results of my hardware investments."
"You never know what you're getting when you buy inexpensive cables with a molex power connector on one end.
"So, I'll admit.. I'm not using this for it's intended purpose. I'm using this with a USB adapter that just so happens to output power on a 3.5" floppy Molex connector. By plugging that connector from this adapter into the USB adapter, I can now output both SATA and regular Molex power on a single cable without any additional adapters. It works great! The quality is typical of StarTech products - simple, but robust."
"I had absolutely no problems with this product. There is only so much one can write about a power cable: It was the correct length, it seems to be made of legit materials, not flimsy. This was handy for connecting an older component to newer SATA-only connections. It came in a small plastic zip-seal bag, adequately protected by a padded envelope. It was delivered at the beginning of the estimated delivery timeframe. There are many different models so make sure you select the correct plugs and cord length before ordering."
"This adaptor cable worked fine. It converts from a SATA power socket to an older, IDE style power plug in a MOLEX brand shell.
"It's bizarre how many peripheral manufacturers use a mixture of sata power and Molex meaning that you have to run both types of cables to similar locations. These little adaptors remove the need for the Molex cable in lower wattage systems making the inside of a PC quite a bit tidier."
